Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, doesn’t live in a huge mansion with vacant rooms and millions just in furnishings. He could definitely afford it if he wanted to, but he’s more humble than that.
He and his girlfriend, Brittany Matthews, live together in a contemporary ranch located in Kansas City, Missouri. Curious to see what’s inside his house? Let’s take a tour!
He Has Owned It Since 2019
Mahomes decided to buy the property in 2019 for approximately $1.75 million. This was around one year before the Cheifs won the 2020 Super Bowl.
The house isn’t small being 4,342 and having three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The property is 1.4 acres and is close to the Country Club District and
The Fireplace Is Awesome
The house is surprisingly old but in good shape due to renovations. The house was built in 1953, has an open floor plan and cabinetry and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Swanky stone fireplaces are in all the livings rooms, the master bedroom, and in other areas. The living room has an Art Deco fireplace and could be the backdrop for Don Draper.
Mahomes and Matthews Spent $400,000 Renovating It
The 70-year-old house has been renovated with $400,000. Both Mahomes and Matthews.
The records for the home indicate the house has been sold two times in the last 18 years. This includes Mahomes purchase.
They Are Very Excited to Live Here
“It’s cool just to have our own house where we can grow into, and so this is definitely a big step in our life,” Mahomes told Bleacher Report. “Renting a house wasn’t for us. We wanted our own place.”
It’s A Step Up From Renting
The two said that they felt a sense of freedom after living in rented apartments before.
“Just being able to nail stuff into the wall and not have to get, like, the sticky tabs — like, you can do whatever you want with the home now,” Mahomes told Bleacher Report.
The Kitchen Is Fantastic
The kitchen has windows reaching the ceilings and a range hood that is built into the ceiling. It has a kitchen with a modern mid-century style.
The design is simple yet elegant. Let’s just hope that it can handle all of the smoke.
The Home Is Close to Arrowhead Stadium
The Mission Hills Country Club is just a short drive from Mahomes’ house and is around nine miles from Arrowhead Stadium where he gets his practice in with his team.
Mahomes’ Diet Plan Isn’t Too Strict
People may believe that Mahomes has a strict diet but contrary to the fact. He doesn’t eat nightshades since they are no anti-inflammatory. Caffeine, fungus, and dairy are also big no’s.
Mahomes eats as many as five meals a day and makes a barbecue rib sandwich from Kansas City eateries. He even bites down on Chick-fil-A burrito bowls and biscuits.
Moving in With His High School Sweetheart
Mahomes grew up in Texas and went to Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas. He met Matthews in tenth grade.
Since then they’ve been together and Mahomes proposed on the 9th of Sept, 2020, at Arrowhead Stadium.
Four of Matthews’ Engagement Rings Would Rival the Price of This Home
Reportedly, the engagement ring Mahomes purchased for his longtime high school sweetheart had an 8- to 10-carat emerald-cut diamond ring planted on a diamond-encrusted band.
It’s rumored to be worth between $350,000 and $800,000. If the ring cost $500,000, that’s about a fourth of the price of this house.
There’s a Wet Bar
He can afford it, of course, because Mahomes is the holder of a 10-year, $503 million contract, which is the largest contract in NFL history.
It’s also the second-largest contract in the history of sports. Only soccer legend Lionel Messi has a bigger one. He signed a $673.9 million deal with FC Barcelona in 2017.
The Wet Bar Holds the TV
The couple kept the wet bar and its built-in storage, and for good reason.
Those cabinets aren’t for storing booze, they hide a large flat-screen television.
A Lot Can Change in Six Years
Mahomes was a triple-threat athlete in high school, where he played football, baseball and basketball. During his senior year, Mahomes threw a 16-strikeout no-hitter.
It’s crazy to think that was the 2013-2014 year, and that Mahomes would go on to win a Super Bowl just six short years later. The house is very roomy, and Mahomes and Matthews will make good use of the space. The two announced in September 2020 that a baby girl was on the way.
Meet Steel and Silver
The couple has two dogs — a pitbull named Steel (left) and a Cane Corso named Silver.
The dogs have their very own Instagram.
Steel Likes to Watch TV
Steel, seen here with Mahomes watching some TV on the couch, was a 2016 gift to Matthews.
Interestingly, Mahomes used to be afraid of dogs. “Until I was in high school,” Mahomes told The Kansas City Star. “Then I went straight to a pit bull.” Now in love with the blocky-headed breed, he’s an advocate for them, spreading the word that they’re not inherently malicious.
Another Look at Steel (And the Living Room)
Steel, seen here carrying a sloth dog toy, peers out over a plush leather couch.
It looks like the couple kept the fireplace poker set stationed by the hearth, although they opted to put a dog kennel in the corner where a chest once stood.
Chilling in the Corner Office
Matthews carved out a spot for a corner office in the living room, near the television. This time it appears that Silver has taken over the workplace and is set to max out the couple’s credit cards on Chewy.com.
Also, you can get your dogs’ photos printed on a box of Milk Bones, like the Mahomes did. Or maybe that was Silver’s work.
Saving Up for a New House
One of the reasons why people love Mahomes is because he seems like a pretty down-to-earth guy.
Before Mahomes signed that record-breaking contract, and while Mahomes was in his rookie year, he and Matthews were living in an upstairs guest bedroom in Matthews’ father’s house to save some money.
Before: The Closet
Photos of Matthews on Instagram frequently show her in a large closet that is filled with shoes.
It’s actually the same closet shown in the old listing photos, but renovated and expanded to the couple’s taste.
After: The Closet
“We renovated a lot of the house. The last thing was the shoe room,” Mahomes told Bleacher Report. “That has been something that I’ve been wanting for the last six, seven years at least.”
The new shoe room has lighted shelving and holds at least 180 pairs of kicks — which is exactly the number that Mahomes stopped collecting shoes.
He’ll Never Forget About His Shoes Now
“When you don’t have enough room, I feel like you lose the value of some of your shoes,” Mahomes said. “Some of the shoes that you’ve worn once, you forget about cuz you don’t see ’em.”
Not exactly a relatable problem for most folks, but most folks don’t have a $500 million contract.
His Favorite Shoes? The Yeezy Triple Black 750s
“These right here, these are my babies,” Mahomes told Bleacher Report, pulling a pair of Yeezy Triple Black 750s from a lighted shelf.
These Adidas shoes were made in conjunction with Kanye West and sell for an average of $1,100, according to Stock X data.
Each Pair Can Be Worn Twice a Year
With 180 pairs of shoes, Mahomes says he can wear one pair about twice a year.
Some of those pairs include:
-Bapes
-Futurecraft whites
-Adidas Game of Thrones Night Watch Ultraboost
-Adidas Pharrell Human Race NMDs
Don’t Think About Walking Off With His Shoes
Anyone who steps foot into Mahome’s closet should think twice before they try to borrow a pair of his shoes without asking. Especially his brother, Jackson Mahomes.
There’s also a camera in the closet, which Mahomes says is for watching his brother when he comes over. “That way I can look and make sure all my shoes are still here,” he said. Jackson is a star on TikTok, where he has over 930,000 followers.
There’s a Display Space for Sunglasses, Too
Mahomes loves sunglasses and was the first NFL player to sign an endorsement deal with Oakley in 2019.
Fast-forward to early 2021, and now Mahomes has his own line of Oakley sunglasses. They look similar to the ones on the second shelf from the top and retail for $196.
There Are Four Fireplaces
The home has four fireplaces in total. This one isn’t featured in the old listing photos, but it can be seen on their dogs’ Instagram. The couple absolutely loves their dogs, and they are in good hands. Steel, the pit bull, was diagnosed with epilepsy.
“After tons of testing and procedures my baby boy has been diagnosed with epilepsy!” wrote Matthews on Instagram. “He is on medicine now and we are going to begin giving him CBD oils to hopefully help eliminate seizures and any stress or anxiety! While this won’t change his life in any way, I will just be keeping a close eye on him and will continue giving him the spoiled life he deserves! He is going to be okay and that is all that matters to me.”
Room for the Dogs
Matthews says the home’s spacious yard is probably the “biggest thing for us” because the dogs have room to play.
This Bathroom is Groovy
The soon-to-be-married couple says they expect to be living in Kansas City for a very long time. “Twenty years-plus,” Mahomes said.
We wonder if they kept this half-bathroom the same. It is painted in a pinkish color, and you can make out the edges of a wavy, very groovy floor pattern.
And This Bathroom Is Normal
Not all the bathrooms have that funky, 1960s style. In fact, most of them are normal, like this guest bathroom.
It’s the second full bathroom in the house, and it’s pretty normal.
They Chose Kansas City Over Texas
The couple originally planned to spend the offseason renting an Airbnb while shopping for a house in Texas, according to GQ. But then they saw this house, and Mahomes decided to just go for it.
GQ interviewed Mahomes just a week after the two had moved in. That story was published in August 2020, so it’s probable the interview took place that summer.
There’s a Wine Room, But It May Be Gone Now
Mahomes and Matthews spent the offseason lockdown days here.
Mahomes’ schedule? He woke up at 7 a.m., worked out at 9 a.m. for two-and-a-half hours, then headed to lunch and sometimes a virtual meeting with his teammates. Then he played video games from noon till 2 p.m. During the football season, he stays away from video games entirely. We’re not sure if the wine room is still there. Mahomes is a Coors Light guy.
Before: The Gym
They also renovated and expanded the gym area (or moved its location entirely) which is now replete with professional-grade equipment and at least one Peloton bike. Mahomes’ screen name is 2PM.
“I’m so damn competitive that I kill myself,” he told GQ. “I see the leaderboard, and I see that, like, Brian from North Carolina is catching me, and I’m like: ‘There’s no way.'”
After: The Gym
Matthews has her own company, Brittany Lynne Fitness, which provides online training and fitness classes. She often posts workout videos to her Instagram, where she exercises in the couple’s home gym.
She also has a partnership with Balance Athletica.
The Dogs Like the Gym
The big, friendly rescue dogs like to wander around the gym while their owners work out.
This view also gives another good shot of the gym, which has been outfitted with padded floors and renovated with a mirrored wall.
A Screened-In Porch Overlooks the Backyard
Mahomes’ father was a professional baseball player who played Major League Baseball for several teams for over a decade, so Mahomes had the opportunity to meet star athletes at a young age.
He talked to star players like Alex Rodriguez, asking questions about how they hit a baseball, absorbing the information.
A View From the Top
The future Chiefs quarterback also studied how some professional athletes were kind and warm, while others were unapproachable.
Mahomes decided that if he were ever to make it to the big leagues, he would be the kind of athlete that was gracious and inviting to fans. Heck, he even sent the GQ journalist a 12-pack of Coors Light as a thank you for interviewing him.
The Owner’s Suite Is Enormous
Of course, Mahomes made the big time, and he made it fast. The Chiefs picked Mahomes in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft (10th overall). The team then signed him to a four-year, $16.42 million contract with a $10 million signing bonus.
It’s crazy that even with that $10 million bonus, he stayed with his girlfriend in her dad’s house.
It’s Bigger Than a House
The owner’s suite is the size of an entire house at 1,250 square feet when including the laundry, closet, bathroom and exercise room.
In fact, it’s only 500 square feet less than the average home size in Kansas City, where the typical house is 1,782 square feet.
It’s One of the More Expensive Properties in the Area
Mahomes’ home is also one of the most expensive places in the area.
According to realtor.com, the luxurious house is 765 percent more expensive than nearby properties.
There’s a Urinal in the Bathroom
It’s not uncommon for athletes to have a urinal installed in their bathroom (Shaq has one). This house came with one already installed.
Additionally, the owner’s bathroom has a large walk-in shower and a water closet.
A Bad Super Bowl
Mahomes and the Chiefs had a terrible Super Bowl LV, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers trouncing them 31-9. The Chiefs couldn’t stop Tampa’s offense, and it was the first game that Mahomes ever quarterbacked where he didn’t throw a touchdown. The nine points were scored via three field goals.
“I wasn’t getting the ball out on time. The receivers were running routes not exactly where I thought they were going to be at. And the offensive line, they were good at some times, and sometimes they let guys through,” Mahomes told reporters after the game. “When you’re playing a good defense like that, you’ve got to be on the same page as an offense. And we weren’t today. And that’s why we played so bad.”
The Outside Is Perfectly Manicured
It would take a whole lot of Mahomes’ Magic Crunch cereal sales to save up for a place even half as nice as Mahomes’.
What, you haven’t heard of Hy-Vee’s limited edition, frosted-flake-like cereal? The food company has been making it a Kansas City exclusive since 2019. In 2020, Hy-Vee ordered 600,000 boxes.
There Are Places to Sit Outside
You can buy a box on Amazon for $12. Although we wouldn’t recommend it.
Not only do non-scalped cereal boxes go for $4 at retail, but all the proceeds benefited the quarterback’s 15 and the Mahomies Foundation.
There’s a Large Pool, Too
Patrick Mahomes’ pool

Mahomes’ 15 and the Mahomies Foundation “is dedicated to improving the lives of children,” according to the organization’s website.
“The Foundation supports initiatives that focus on health, wellness, communities in need of resources and other charitable causes.”
The Dogs Like the Pool, Too
The Mahomes are getting good use out of the pool, as are the dogs.
Here, Silver takes a big a leap into the crystal-clear pool water.
Although They Don’t Like Getting Wet. Or Do They?
The downside of playing in a pool? Getting wet. Although Silver is good for it.
This Instagram photo is captioned “Swimming is my fav hobby.”
The Dogs Can Play Here
Mahomes’ charitable practices don’t end there.
The young gunslinger partnered with Community America and helped build tiny homes for veterans in Kansas City in January 2020.
And They Love It
When Mahomes is not practicing or doing charity work, he and Brittany are making good use of their backyard to play with Silver and Steel.
Here, Silver takes a big jump to grab a ball, while Steel looks on with a worried face.
Sunshine for Days
“It’s awesome. Just to be a part of this with Community America and to be able to come out here and help out some veterans of our country is something that’s truly special,” Mahomes said to a local news outlet. “And they’re doing a lot of great work here, and hopefully, we can help out a little bit today.”
They’ll Be Here for a While
In the backyard is a large pool with a hot tub, along with large patios and a rose garden.
A screened-in porch overlooks the elevated pool area. Mahomes and Matthews will probably be here for a while.
